2020: Wearing the 1st International Women’s Day shoe that New Balance has ever created. I was blessed to work with amazing women on this project and so fortunate to have been selected to be the Footwear Designer for such a powerful project.

About

Hello! Thank you for taking the time to visit my website. I am Nathalie Kinney-Greer, a zestful, energetic, adventurous individual, excited by life. Originally from Michigan, I have lived and traveled much of the world. My husband and I currently live in New Hampshire with our fur babies, Dozer and Reggie. I have always been a very artistic individual, with experience in everything from graphic design, painting, and screen printing, to woodworking, knitting, and textiles. However, I have also always had a burning desire to help others. From a very young age, I have struggled to balance my interests in design and medicine. My experience within the medical field has allowed me to handle many high-pressure situations, which has worked to my advantage as I progressed through my education and life.

During my junior year of high school, I attended a study abroad program in Italy, and this was where I truly fell in love with the arts. I attended at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where I earned a B.F.A. in Painting and Mixed Media. Missing the medical field, I also earned both my Emergency Medical Technician and Wilderness First Responder certifications along with several FEMA incident command certificates.

Although I yearned to help people as a flight EMT, my passion for the outdoors led me to South America and Alaska, where I achieved a mountaineering guide certification. Though I felt I could be more useful to people in need as an EMT, I realized over the years I truly LOVE art, design, and innovation. Passionate about sports, the outdoors, and the footwear industry, my husband and I packed up and moved from Chicago to Portland, with you guessed it our English bulldog, back in 2016. Once in Portland, I enrolled in classes at the Pacific Northwest College of Art to earn my second Bachelor’s degree in Communication Design.

In addition I attend the inaugural 12-week Intensive Design Internship at Pensole Footwear Design Academy. After my challenging and invigorating experience with The North Face as a Color Material Designer, I knew I had found my calling and passion. I am forever proud to be part of the Pensole family, and was looking forward to a career in the creative and dynamic footwear industry.

Upon finishing Pensole in late 2017, I was recruited by New Balance. I packed my bags and moved back across the country to Boston, MA for a 1 year internship. I worked within the Footwear Design Lifestyle team. This year was a truly transformative time for my personal and professional growth. After 10-months into my 12-month internship New Balance offered me a full-time position as Footwear Designer I on the Lifestyle team!

Everyday I feel so blessed to be working in this amazing industry. Learning from co-workers and sharing my passion for design and innovation with consumers! My husband, dogs and I are delighted to be living close to family again on the East Coast and enjoy all the fresh Seafood isn’t too shabby;) Thank you for reading and learning a little bit about my life!

All the best,

Nathalie
